Transitional Housing

Steps to Independence

Our steps to independence program is designed to help individuals become

homeowners within 24 months after entering our program or when they qualify.

The Three Steps:

Step one begins with an individual entering the program. They are assigned to a 2 to 4 man room, for the first 3 to 6 months. During that period clients are required to participate in all aspects of the program offered by My Father’s Choice Inc., work in our call center or at designated stores that allow MFC International to fundraise.

Step two begins at the end of 3 to 6 months depending on the individual progress.  At that time the resident then moves to a 2 or 1 man room where he or she is given more responsibilities and are able to obtain outside employment. We continue to monitor them as they continue to move toward self-sufficiency.

The third step consists of residents moving to a house where they share with a  1 roommate. They are responsible for lights, gas, rent the upkeep of the premises and food. They are also required to continue to participate in program activities when available. They will stay at this stage for approximately 12 months.  At the end of a total of 24 months our clients are able to rent or purchase their own home.

We at My Father’s Choice Inc. believe that transitional services should be just that, a transition from roommate and rules, to homeownership and responsibility.
